Grade 8-9 Transition Timelines
October – January
- Choices for 9 pamphlets distributed to students (http://www.tdsb.on.ca/Portals/0/HighSchool/docs/ChoicesforNine20162017.pdf)
- Secondary School Information Nights take place (see link below for a full for dates at at school) http://www.tdsb.on.ca/HighSchool/GoingtoHighSchool/OpenHousesandInformationNights.aspx)
- if you are interested in specialized schools or programs, you should contact the specific school for admission criteria (Note: students can only apply to two specialized programs)
- Applications, examinations and auditions for specialty programs held at speciifc schools
January
- Choices (secondary school course selection/planning guide) sent home with students
- List of closed and limited schools made available
- if a school is not closed, students can apply under optional attendance by completing an optional attendance application form and submitting it to the school that they are applying to (Note: students can only apply to two regular programs)
- optional attendance applications are due at the secondary school on January 29, 2015 (to be delivered to secondary school by parent or student no later than 4pm on January 29)
- Students will complete their COURSE SELECTION SHEET for their home school based on geographical boundaries (Please visit http://www.tdsb.on.ca/FindYour/School.aspx to find your home school)
- students who have applied to regular optional attendance or specialized programs will be notified of acceptance
- students are to advice Ms. Meghji of acceptance between Feb 16 and Feb 19 and complete a new course selection sheet that will replace the home school course selection sheet that was completed in January
- Ms. Meghji will deliver students' final course selection sheets to Secondary Schools on February 25 and 26
May and June
- students will be given workshops on achieving Community Hours
August/September
- students will be invited for orientation at their secondary schools
