All course selection sheets that students have submitted have been delivered to the Secondary Schools. Your child will be registered in the next few days. The secondary schools will be in touch with you regarding orientation dates in the summer where students will receive timetables and further information.
Students who have not yet submitted a course selection sheet can not be registered in a secondary school. Please make sure to submit your course selection sheet as soon as possible.
Students who have received an offer from a private school or a school outside of the TDSB are to let me know so that we can de-register you from the school that you have submitted your course selection to.

Course Selection Process
Most students have been provided with their course selection sheets for the schools that they are in area for based on geographical boundaries. The completed course selection sheets are due to your child’s homeroom teacher on February 3, 2016.
This year, students are not using My Blueprint to submit course selection. However, students can stull use the program to explore a variety of tools that support career and education planning.
Ms. Meghji will be meeting with Home School students in February to complete course selection.
If a student is completing a course selection sheet for Northern under the tech pathway, they must choose a tech course each year (Grades 9-12). Students choosing Northern under the commercial pathway must choose a business course each year(Grades 9-12)
Students who have applied to schools outside their geographical boundaries (through optional attendance) will be notified of acceptance by February 12, 2016.
Students who choose to accept an offer under optional attendance are required to notify Ms. Meghji the week of February 15. A new course selection sheet will be completed to replace the one handed in for their geographical school.
Language Assessment For Students New to Canada
Students from Hodgson Sr. P.S. and Forest Hill P.S who have been in Canada for less than 3 years will be given a language and math assessment on February 22, 2016 (at Forest Hill P.S.). Recommendations for Grade 9 English and Math will follow. If a student is deemed to require ESL support, they will be registered at Forest Hill P.S. where the support is available. Hodgson students in this category have not yet received a course selection sheet. This will be done once the assessment is completed.

Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year!
My name is Nishi Meghji. I am the Elementary Guidance Counsellor for Forest Hill Jr. and Sr. Public School, Hodgson Sr. Public School and Carleton Village Health and Wellness Academy. I look forward to working with students and families in West Region 8.
To keep you informed with the Guidance and Career Education Program, I will be updating you with information on this blog.
Creating Pathways to Success
Guidance and Career Education is mandated in our schools through a Ministry of Education Policy Document called “Creating Pathways To Success”. Creating Pathways to Success sets out the new career development policy for Ontario schools, which involves the implementation of a comprehensive Kindergarten to Grade 12 education and career/life planning program designed to help students achieve their personal goals and become competent, successful, and contributing members of society. This is a whole-school program delivered through classroom instruction linked to the curriculum and through broader school programs and activities.
The program framework is a four-step inquiry process built on four questions linked to the
four areas of learning in education and career/life planning – Knowing Yourself; Exploring Opportunities; Making Decisions and Setting Goals; and Achieving Goals and Making Transitions.
